Once there was a Man named Alec who couldn’t read everyone called him “Dumb Alec.” This made him sad.
One day he passed by a little girl he knew named Marie. She was crying he asked, “Marie why are you crying?”
Marie said, “No one will read my book to me.” Alec frowned and said, “I don’t know how to read.”
Marie said, “Oh I know how to read I just like to hear my story out loud.”
Marie asked, “Can I read my book to you?” Alec sat beside her and said, “Yes please do.”
Marie read the story, it was a grand adventure about Pirates. ARRR!
When she finished Marie asked, “Would you like me to teach you how to read?”
Alec felt silly that a little Girl could teach a big Man to read, but he smiled and said, “Yes please do.”
Every day Marie taught Alec how to read. No one calls him “Dumb Alec” anymore.
They call him:
“Smart Alec”
